The construction and validity analysis of AQHI based on mortality risk: A case study in Guangzhou, China

An AQHI was constructed based on short-term associations of SO2, NO2, O3 and PM2.5 with mortality in Guangzhou, China. Risk bands were constructed taking the WHO Air Quality Guidelines into consideration. The AQHI had significant association with morbidity in Guangzhou, China. Compared with AQI, AQHI is a more effective communication tool of air pollution-related health risk to the public.
