Plastic debris on beach was increasingly abundant with decreasing sizes. Microplastics (<5 mm) accounted for 98% of plastic debris by abundance. Fragmentation is believed to cause stranded plastic debris to reduce in size. Backwash process may bring highly fragmented plastics back to the coastal sea. Beaches are reservoirs of microplastics.
