文摘

A middle Viséan coral biostrome was reported for the first time in southwestern China.

The biostrome was mainly composed of Siphonodendron pentalaxoidea, Syringopora sp. and Kueichouphyllum sinense.

Growth and demise of the biostrome were controlled by sea-level rise and fall, respectively.

The biostrome has similar biotic compositions to the Viséan coral biostromes in Europe and North Africa.

The occurrence of coral biostromes in both eastern and western Palaeotethys implies a relatively global warm episode.
