We evaluated the agreement of gridded (GWD) and measured weather data (MWD). Crop phenology and yield were simulated using GWD and MWD across the U.S. Corn Belt. GWD should be used with caution to simulate site-year growth and yield. In a dense weather station network, spatial interpolation of MWD can outperform GWD. The results highlight the need to expand networks in agricultural regions globally.
