The I427T neuraminidase (NA) mutation confers reduced susceptibility to many NA inhibitors in influenza A (H1N1)pdm09. The I427T mutation altered the stability of the catalytic R368 residue causing a reduced binding of the NA enzyme to NAI. A (H1N1)pdm09 recombinants with the I427T NA mutation had a compromised fitness in vitro and in mice.
