The crystal phases were formed on the sub-surfaces of BMGs sliding against different disks.

As sliding against alumina, the Al3Zr4 and Al2O3 nanocrystallites were distributed on the sub-surface of BMG.

As worn against zirconia, the (Zr,Cu) nanocrystallites reinforced the sub-surface of BMG, which significantly increased the wear resistance.

The crystallization layers and its role in the tribological behaviors various were powerful influenced by the counter-faces.
