Haloacetonitriles (HANs) controls by two household heating devices were examined. HAN removal was due to a combined effect of volatilization and decomposition. HANs lability under heating relied highly upon the halogenation type(s) and degree(s). HAN treatment efficiency may be greatly enhanced by favorable handling methods.
