The effect of Kb>2b>O on the microstructure of Nab>2b>O-CaO-Pb>2b>Ob>5b>-SiOb>2b> based ceramic system

The influence of sintering temperature at 900 °C and partial substitution of Nab>2b>O with Kb>2b>O in SiOb>2b>-Pb>2b>Ob>5b>-Nab>2b>O–CaO system on thermal and structural properties of system was studied by TGA-DSC, ourier transform IR, X-Ray Diffraction and Scanning electron Microscopy respectively. In all the thermally treated ceramic samples, solid solution of sodium calcium silicate Nab>2b>Cab>3b>Sib>6b>Ob>16b>, Combeite Nab>2b>Cab>2b>Sib>3b>Ob>9b>, Wollastonite, were known as main crystalline phases identified. The result showed that addition of Kb>2b>O stabilized the samples thermally, decreased the crystallization kinetics. The thermal stability for samples were observed in 800 °C–1000 °C region.
