Glycerol carbonate (GC) was synthesized utilizing glycerol transesterification pathway. Ladle furnace (LF) steel slag waste catalyzed the glycerol transesterification reaction. Sodium hydroxide stabilizes the LF slag against leaching of active sites. The catalyst can sustain five cycles of reuse without serious deactivation.
