SOCS1 is upregulated in SAV3-infected TO-cells while negligible expressed upon IPNV-infection. SAV3 infected salmon showed an increase in SOCS1 transcripts in heart. In cells overexpressing SOCS1 an impaired antiviral response was detected. SOCS1 acts as a negative feedback inhibitor of IFN mediated signaling in fish.
