We newly developed 59 nuclear phylogenetic markers from a draft genome. We used these to study aquatic insect diversification on Macaronesian islands. Species tree reconstruction and concatenation resulted in fully resolved trees. The Macaronesian islands have been colonized by at least three independent events. Island-endemic speciation and trans-oceanic dispersal have been important processes.
