Solutions are presented for the maximum temperature of flat plate with uniform heat generation. Laminar and turbulent forced convection and natural convection are treated. Solution for heated plate is used in derivation of an analytical solution for a plate fin with uniform base heat flux. With fixed total heat flux, base boundary condition can affect the maximum fin temperature excess by up to 20%. Our new equation can prevent under-dimensioning of fins in case of uniform heat flux at the base plate.
