Cortical microstructural changes in PD were assessed with T1 relaxometry over 6½ years. PD patients show marked T1 reductions in the temporal, parietal and occipital cortices. The spatial distribution of T1 reductions overlaps with known cortical atrophy patterns. Cortical remodeling in PD likely begins at mild to moderate disease stages.
