Fundamental aspects of OO bond cleavage and formation at iron centers are detailed. The bond breaking pathways at non-heme complexes are described. Evidences for reversible bond cleavage-formation at iron complexes are discussed. The bond formation at synthetic complexes is depicted analyzing iron based WOCs.
