The air-silicon oil partition coefficient P of 48 relevant chemicals was determined. An experimental mass balance procedure was reliable, the EPICS method was not. The effect of the viscosity of silicon oil on P values was quantified. Within functional groups (alcohols, ketones, etc.), P correlated with the Wiener index.
