Shifts in plant−insect interactions indicate a greater partitioning of foliage and more specialized herbivory through time.

Two new damage types (DTs) were found that were not documented previously in the fossil record.

Features of the plant hosts, such as antiherbivore defenses, and their insect herbivores may explain the herbivory patterns.
