Efficacy of hermetic storage facilities and a synthetic pesticide was assessed. Hermetic storage facilities outperformed the registered synthetic pesticide. Hermetic bags are susceptible to perforation by storage insect pests. Hermetic bags were damaged by rodents and grain moulding was observed in the bags. Synthetic pesticide failed to control insect development especially P. truncatus.
