Compounds with linear and star-shaped molecular formats were designed and synthesized. The very first effort to utilize cyanopyridone for generating a three-dimensional molecule. Extension of π-conjugation in the star-shaped format for improved light-harvesting. Improved BHJ device performance with the utilization of star-shaped format. An OPV device using one of the materials (3D) demonstrated highest efficiency of 4.76%.
