Sodium-copper hexacyanoferrate-modified magnetic nanoparticles were successfully prepared. The nanoparticles have an excellent adsorption capacity with good selectivity to Cs. The nanoparticles effectively removed Cs over a wide pH range. The nanoparticles could be separated rapidly by an external magnetic field. The magnetic absorbent shows promise in the treatment of 137Cs-contaminated water.
