Pt(IV) extraction with an amine-type extractant (EHBAA) was investigated. Pt(IV) is extracted with EHBAA with good selectivity over Fe(III). EHBAA extracts Pt(IV) more efficiently than the conventional extractant TOA. An ion-pair reaction could occur during Pt(IV) extraction with EHBAA.
