Thermal stress may influence animal welfare and milk yield and composition. We aimed to investigate the impact of THI on SCC, milk yield and composition. High THI was associated with higher SCC and production losses in Holsteins. Cows at low THI were better in milk yield and composition. THI has a detrimental effect on welfare and economic return.
