There has been a general population decline in Tachypleus tridentatus juvenile abundance in the north-western New Territories of Hong Kong between 2002 and 2014.
A dramatic juvenile population shrinkage of T. tridentatus was recorded from the nursery creché site closest to a new bridge built in 2007 2.5 km away.
Juveniles of Carcinoscorpius rotundicauda expanded their local range with more individuals at the station farthest away from the newly built bridge 3.5 km away.
