Tailpipe length has a significant effect on nucleation mode of particles. The effects of MSP on PN and soot are distinctly dependent on injection timing. Injection timing and intake air temperature have combined effects on PN and soot. At any rate of given EGR addition, soot and PN remain low in DMDF mode with high MSP.
