Mesoporous MgAl mixed oxide (MgAlOC) was prepared using template glucose. MgAlOC had high surface area, massive mesopores and high Cr(VI) adsorption performance. Various adsorption kinetic and thermodynamic models were implemented on Cr(VI) adsorption.
