Polypyrrole (PPy), one interesting conducting polymers, has its unique advantages, such as high conductivity, good redox properties, and simple synthetic procedures.
Higher electrochemical performance can be achieved by the introduction of novel design of nanostructured PPy and its nanocomposites.
Thus, there are a large number of studies reported the high performance supercapacitors by using PPy and its composites.
In this review, the general concept behind the high-performance PPy-based supercapacitor is firstly discussed.
Then, the unique prototypes (e.g. wearable supercapacitors) reported recently are presented.
Last, a profound conclusion is given, hoping the reader could have a deep understanding of current challenges and future trends in this field.
