Seven day-old extracellular polymeric substances at 240 mg L−1 inhibit corrosion. Their solution inhibits corrosion better after enzyme deactivation. Their solution at 24 mg L−1 and high 1200 mg L−1 accelerate carbon steel corrosion. Fourteen day-old extracellular polymeric substances promotes cathodic reaction. Twenty-eight day-old extracellular polymeric substances promotes cathodic reaction.
