Maize root response to organochlorine exposure was examined using 1H-HRMAS NMR method.
Root metabolome showed significant OCP disturbances and dose-dependent fluctuations.
OCP exposures altered the balance between glycolysis/gluconeogenesis.
OCPs disturbed trans-aconitate, succinate, fumarate, acetate and fatty acid contents.
OCPs increased protein/lipid catabolism (asparagine & oxidized fatty acid markers).
