A technology for the synthesis of CuFe2O4 was developed using industrial sludge. CuFe2O4 is fast and effective for removal/recovery of Pb from a seawater matrix. The detailed adsorption and desorption parameters of Pb removal were investigated. The data imply that a 0.005 N HNO3 solution is sufficient for Pb desorption. CuFe2O4 could be rapidly separated and recycled using an external magnet.
