A two-step algorithm for tracking the global MPP of a PV-string is proposed. The algorithm has been implemented on a 3 kW grid-tie inverter originally using P&O. The algorithm can enable the inverter to have the capability of tracking the GMPP. A field test results show that the algorithm can extract 35% more power than the P&O.
