The environment of five arsenism areas was compared through site investigation and comprehensive study. Climate condition is not the main factor that affects the groundwater arsenic enrichment. The arsenism areas are located in the center of a sedimentary basin or a relatively low-lying zone of the plains. The serious arsenism areas are mainly distributed in reducing hydrogeochemical environment. High content of total arsenic, As (III), organic matter in the water are the main reason for arsenism.
