Re–Os and U–Pb ages constrain the metallogenetic history of the Cananea district. Geochronological data indicate a NW to SE progression of mineralization. Tertiary extension rearranged ore systems which opens opportunity for exploration. Tertiary extension yielded conditions to develop exotic copper mineralization.
