The utility of a country-specific Bartonella henselae antigen in an IgM-indirect fluorescent antibody assay for the improved diagnosis of cat scratch disease
B. henselae Houston-1 (in US;16S type I; MST-2) is used worldwide for the serodiagnosis of CSD by IFA B. henselae from domestic cats in Japan belong to YH-01(in Japan; 16S type I and MST-1). The antigenic difference distinguished by the MST is an important determinant of the accuracy of IFA. We need to use a country-specific B. henselae strain in the development of IFAs to enable the accurate diagnosis of CSD in Japan.
