A coupled proton pair system provides a simple explanation of ihMT signals. ihMT does not require inhomogeneous broadening or involve hole-burning. ihMT signals are observed in homogeneously-broadened spin systems. ihMT depends only on dipolar coupling, not a specific type of spectral line broadening.
