Green LLUSA extraction procedure for lycopene and β-carotene characterization. Good analytical performance, sensitivity 5 times better than reported in literature. Method application to tomato ripening stages, fruit sections and varieties. Exponential increase of carotenoids during ripening, in skin and locular cavity. Carotenoids abundance – skin > locular cavity > pericarp (inner and outer walls).
