China has introduced universal hepatitis B vaccination in infants since 2002. 3442 children born after 2002 from Jiangsu, China, were tested for HBV markers. 0.35% were HBsAg positive with no mutations found in the a determinant. As high as 89.39% children had immunity to hepatitis B. No occult HBV infection occurred in anti-HBc positive children.
