An impinging hot jet at high Reynolds number and small nozzle-to-plate distance is studied.

Mean and fluctuating fields of both velocity and temperature are experimentally characterized.

The Nusselt number and effectiveness distribution on the impinged plate are described.

Primary structure dynamic is highlighted through a vortex identification and a spectral analysis.

Link between the vortical dynamic and the non-monotonic Nusselt number distribution is discussed.
