A flow injection ICPMS method using a passive flow splitter for the determination of total selenium in urine was developed. The method’s LOD and LOQ allow the determination of total selenium in normal background urine. The method combines time-efficient sample preparation with a straight-forward instrumental set-up. The method is particularly useful for large numbers of samples or when sample volume is limited.
