In this work we present the direct electrodeposition of poly(pyrrole)/Prussian blue composite nanostructures under ultrasonic radiation. Different characterization techniques were employed such as scanning electron microscopy, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and voltammetric experiments. It was found that the amplitude of the ultrasound highly influences both size and dispersity of PB nanoparticles providing interesting electrochemical features such as the enhancement of mass-transport processes during cycling of the modified electrodes, a good sensitivity in the electrocatalytic reduction of hydrogen peroxide, also the polypyrrole matrix provided an enhanced durability of the Prussian blue, compared with electrodeposited thin films. All these features are probably related to the morphology and distribution of the nanoparticles on the electrode interface which can be tuned by changing the ultrasound amplitude. We believe that this work could be of benefit of different electrochemical devices by presenting a direct and straightforward electrode modification methodology, where the direct electrodeposition of the composite nanostructures assisted by ultrasonic radiation can be applied to many different materials, taken into account the vastly possibilities reached by the combination of conducting polymers and electroactive inorganic materials.
