Membrane distillation was proposed for shale gas produced water (SGPW) treatment. MD was integrated with crystallization (MDC) for high recovery. Membrane wetting was examined by varying organic and inorganic constituents. MDC could effectively mitigate inorganic scaling, improving its feasibility for SGPW treatment.
