PIVC checklist was developed to measure steps necessary for best practice insertion. Used by 8 raters to assess PIVC skills, in a simulated environment, of 63 nurses. Internal consistency of the PIVC Insertion Skills Checklist was α = 0.84. ICC between rater and gold standard total score was 0.99 (95% CI 0.99-0.99).
