Distribution of carbapenem resistance mechanisms in Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates among hospitalised children in Poland: Characterisation of two novel insertion sequences disrupting the oprD gene
Examined Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains were highly diverse. 80% of resistant strains has significant mutations in the oprD gene. Six strains had different insertion sequences disrupting the oprD gene. Increased activity of Mex efflux pumps was detected in 27 isolates (49%). Seven highly carbapenem-resistant strains produced VIM or IMP metallo-β-lactamases.
