Women aged 60 years and older had the highest reported increase in both incidence and mortality from 2001 to 2011.
The poorest and more deprived regions had the highest increase in the number of reported cases.
The rising incidence may reflect an improvement in healthcare access, reporting of cases and quality of national databases.
