Mice were limited to 8 h of daytime or nighttime feeding for one week. Nocturnal behavioral rhythms were maintained under timed-restricted feeding (RF). Plasma insulin, but not corticosterone rhythms were in phase with feeding rhythms. RF minimally affected clock gene expression in peripheral tissues except the liver. Feeding and insulin are probably not dominant time cues for peripheral clocks.
