Interaction between racks and the supporting floor surface is currently neglected in routine design. Influence of settlements is investigated via a parametric analysis on cases of practical interest for design. Research outcomes shown that the floor settlements could sometimes reduce remarkably rack performance; Influence of the warping effects due to the use of non-symmetric cross-section members is non-negligible; A suitable equation is proposed useful for the estimation of the performance reduction.
