Nonlinear modal self-interaction is considered for a phononic crystal. Higher harmonic generation is investigated analytically. Numerical simulations verify the analytical predictions for low energies. Self-interaction affects the band structure of the material. Modest higher harmonic generation is illustrated within the limits of the analysis.
