Hydrogen isotope fractionation was measured for partitioning of benzenes from water. 1-Octanol and n-octane yield similar fractionation factors. C6D6 behaves more hydrophilically than C6H6. Solvent extraction fractionates slightly stronger than evaporation from water. Diffusion may fractionate opposite to thermodynamic control.
