Dislocation transmutation reactions by (10–12) twinning were confirmed in TEM.

The transmutation concept is a source mechanism, producing only <c ± a2> among all six possible <c + a> dislocations.

The interfacial reaction products could result in a dragging effect on twin boundary advancement.

The transmuted <c + a> dislocations inside twin establish a basis for subsequent rapid hardening.
