LPS induces CD14- and TLR4-dependent cell death in THP-1 cells. The treatment of THP-1 cells with LPS induces activation of both caspase 8 and 9. TRAIL and DR4/5 contributes to TLR4-induced cell death. TLR4 activation down-regulates Bcl-2, and up-regulates Noxa and Puma. TLR4 activation up-regulates FLIPL, and LPS treatment activates TAp63α.
