Open-system pyrolysis, simultaneous thermal analysis and thermomicroscopy were carried out on Bazhenov formation samples. Two approaches of activation energy distribution determination from open-system pyrolysis experiments were investigated. Kerogen conversion process during pyrolysis and oxidation was monitored.
