Nature of the CdFe(Mn)TeSe surfaces exposed to air is substantially different. Near–surface region is enriched in Cd and to some extent Te–deficient. Presence of Mn drastically changes the surface oxidation conditions. The surface oxidation in ambient conditions undergoes different mechanisms. Oxygen triggers Mn out–diffusion, while Fe diffuses into the bulk.
